Quick Start Guide

Setting up MLA (Multi Level Affiliates) does not require any complex configurations and only takes a few minutes before your site is ready to start awarding multi level commissions.

Once you have installed and activated the plugin, navigate to the AffiliateWP settings page (Affiliates > Settings) and click on the ‘MLA’ tab. You’ll see quite a few settings on this page but most of them are optional and are only required to setup more advanced features. This guide demonstrates the absolute minumin requirements to start generating multi level commissions (in 4 quick steps).

Step 1 – License activation

Enter your plugin license in the ‘License Key’ field and then scroll to the bottom of the page and save your settings. You’ll now see a green license status displayed advising that your license is valid.

Step 2 – Set the number of commission levels

Scroll down the page to the ‘Per Level Settings’ section. These are the settings that determine the number of levels commission will be paid on and the amount paid per level. By default the settings in this section will be identical to the standard AffiliateWP rate until modified.

Configure the following fields:

  • Payment Levels – Enter the number of levels you wish to pay commissions on.
  • Rate Type – Enter the type of commisisons you wish to pay. Either a percentage of the order total or a flat rate commission.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your settings.

Step 3 – Configure your ‘Per Level Rate Values’

Once you save the settings from step 3, you’ll now see some extra fields appear in the ‘Per Level Rate Values’ section representing one value for each level.

Enter the amount of commission you wish to award for each level. Level 1 is the purchaser’s parent (referrer), level 2 is the referrer’s parent and so in an upward direction.

In the above example, we are awarding commission on 4 levels with 10% awarded to the parent (referrer), 9% to the level above and so forth. For detailed information on how these settings are actually applied, see the Multi Level Commissions article.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your settings.

At this point all of the required settings have been configured however the plugin’s features (including multi level commissions) are still technically disabled.

You may choose to continue configuring the plugin’s more advanced options such as the per product rates but if not proceed to step 4.

Step 4 – Enable the plugin features

Locate the ‘Enable MLA’ field at the top of the page.

Once you enable this checkbox and save the settings, all plugin features will now be enabled. Affiliate’s who register from this point forward will be automatically linked to their referrer and multi level commissions will be awarded. For a detailed description of all the plugin’s settings continue on to the Plugin Settings article.

What next ? We recommend reading the ‘Affiliate Area’ article which guides you through the process of adding MLA content to your Affiliate Area (front end).
